There are various methods of Moxa Application:

Moxibustion with Beifußkegeln: The therapist sets ginger slices on the acupuncture points and ignited in these small cones of dried Beifußkraut, which burn very slowly. Once the patient is a heat sensation in acupuncture point senses the cone to the nearest acupuncture point shelved. Each item is heated several times, until the skin is significantly reddened. This is "indirect moxibustion referred. In China and Japan, and some places even today the cone directly on the skin ( "direct moxibustion"). The resulting fire bubbles are intentional and part of the therapy.
Moxazigarre: The therapist sparked a Moxazigarre (in thin rods made of rolled paper Beifußpulver) and nearing the glowing tip of the acupuncture point to about half a centimeter to the patient a strong heat feeling feels. Then he removes it again briefly and repeatedly approaching this in a whole different points, until the skin in those places is significantly reddened.
Needle Moxa: With special needles, the therapist directs the heat of the verglühenden Beifußpulvers directly into the tissue.
Moxa-patch: patch, whose sticky side with medicinal herbs is coated. These herbs create a thermal reaction. These patches are sent to the acupuncture points attached.
The Moxakraut Mugwort contains, inter alia, essential oils, including Cineole and Thujaöl also choline, resins and tannins. Under the doctrine of the TCM acts Moxa on the same principle as acupuncture. You should therefore encourage the flow of energy and against so-called "cold" states act.
